GRADUATION PRACTICE AND CEREMONY INFO
Graduation Dress Code
All Graduates should remember that hair styles are to be kept simple so that the graduation cap fits on the head properly. Caps are worn level on the head, not at an angle. The only items that may be worn with the graduation robe are the academy pins, honor cords and graduation medallion. Caps may not be decorated.
Do not take a purse, bag or tote with you into the exhibit hall or arena, you should give these items to family members prior to checking in. Cell phones are permitted however they will need to be put away when the commencement begins.
Comfortable dress with simple neckline that does not interfere with gown sleeves and neckline. Dresses should not hang below hem of the gown. Floor length black dress pants or solid black skirts are permitted.
Black shoes. Preferably with medium height heel (no more than two inches) or flats. Wedges are permitted; however, the wedge portion should be black, no naturals, cork or jute.
No dangling necklaces or earrings.
- Black dress pants and black dress shoes. No jeans, sneakers, deck shoes, flip flops permitted.
- White button-down dress shirts only. Black tie or Bow tie.
Make sure to leave purses, phones, key and other personal and valuable items with relatives or friends that are not in the ceremony. There is no safe place to leave these items while participating. Neither the school nor the Ocean Center will be responsible for such items.

Graduation Fee: All seniors must pay the graduation fee. If you have a Graduation cap and gown from a sibling/friend that graduated in the past 4 years, you may use those items and not purchase a new set (tassel will be sold separately). You must let Mrs. Rocco know in order to pay a reduced graduation fee rate. Please note that any set older than four years will not match the tone and sheen of the product used this year. Unpaid graduation fees will become an obligation.
May 26, 2020: Baccalaureate Service, A Night of Reflection
Virtual Program Planned and produced by the Parent Advisory Committee and the First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach 313 North Tomoka Farms Road at 7:00PM. Students, family and friends are invited to watch this heartfelt event with and farewell send off. Go to SCHS Hawk TV on You Tube.
June 4, 2020: Senior Awards Program
7:00pm Virtual program at SCHS Hawk TV on You Tube. All Seniors, families and friends are encouraged to watch and share in the various accomplishments of the senior class.
July 7, 2020: Graduation Practice – MANDATORY, (students only) PENDING CDC GUIDELINES
10:00am at the Ocean Center. All students must provide their own transportation. This is a required practice for all seniors planning to participate in the Graduation ceremony. Students who do not attend this practice may not walk at Graduation. Do not wear your cap and gown.
July 10, 2020: Graduation Ceremony - will be held at the Ocean Center at 12:30pm ( pending CDC guidelines )
Seniors should report to their assigned area at the Ocean Center one hour before the ceremony, dressed in cap and gown, to line up
for the processional. The graduation ceremony will last approximately 90 minutes, and it may take up to an hour to exit the Daytona Beach area.
