If you are zoned to attend Spruce Creek High School you do not wish to participate in any academies or special programs these are your deadlines:
END of FEBRUARY: Registration for 2026-2027 School Year
Spruce Creek High School Counselors will visit each of our zoned middle schools to sit with students individually to choose classes for next year. The typical 9th grade schedule includes: English, Math, Science , Social Studies, Personal Fitness, and 2 Electives. Students will leave that meeting with a list of possible classes to share with their families and requested courses will be mailed home to parents. Families are able to make changes to selections through the summer if needed. We will host evening registration nights in March on the Spruce Creek High campus for students who are not at our zoned schools and for families with questions or concerns. You can also reach out to your 8th grade counselor. All private and home school students cannot be scheduled until the summertime (this does not impact elective selection as the master schedule is not complete until July).
March ? (Date TBD): 8th Grade Open House @ Spruce Creek
This event is for ALL incoming 9th graders. You are welcome to come to our club expo and course information session to see what we have to offer next year. We will also have counselors available to chat with about classes if needed. We will start at 5:30pm with our Sports and Club Expo in the Spruce Creek High School Main Atrium and do an official welcome at 6:30pm in our Auditorium. Counselors, staff and electives will be available during the entire event from 5:30-7:30pm.
SUMMER: Schedules and Orientation
Watch for communication from the school about when to expect your final schedule. You can also view your schedule in Focus as the beginning of the school year approaches. We will send out information about dates for orientation as soon as they are solidified.

I Am Not Zoned for SCHS and Want to Apply for a Variance
If you are not zoned for Spruce Creek High School, but would like to become a Hawk, you must fill out a School Choice Variance Application. One of the reasons why a variance may be granted is to allow you to participate in an academic program that is not available at your zoned school. Applying to participate in IB or an academy automatically completes the school choice application. You only need to do this if you wish to be considered for a variance for programs your school may not offer like:
| The School of the Performing Arts | Contact SOPA |
| AVID | Contact Mr. Plowden |
| Orchestra | Contact Mr. Dehenes |
| JROTC | Contact Sgt. Mg. Emerson |
The application process for Volusia County School District controlled open enrollment is available through your parent portal account. The applications for the subsequent school year to be submitted January 7 through March 1 in order to facilitate timely decisions and notifications. Applications are accepted outside the open enrollment period when a school has not reached capacity or a school choice request is based on a documented hardship. You may complete a paper application at Spruce Creek High School after March 1, but because our school is over capacity, the district will not always grant the request for a variance. You are encouraged to apply early. For more information, visit the district website.
I Am in Any Grade and Am New to Volusia County Schools
New student enrollments (you are not currently attending any Volusia County School) require a complete application as well as several documents gathered prior to enrollment. Below are links to the needed documents. Once you have gathered all information, please email our registrar Mary Miller at mamille1@volusia.k12.fl.us to set up an appointment to go over your application. At this point, we will set a start date for your student. Please contact our registrar with all questions regarding enrollments, withdraws and transcripts. To ensure we have enough time to register your child, REGISTRATIONS ARE BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. Please don’t come to the school until you have a day and time set.
You can view the Program of Studies to see the programs and classes available at Spruce Creek High School prior to your appointment to see what classes you would like to be registered for.

If you do not set up your account prior to registration, be sure to print out the paper registration form and have it filled out before you arrive for your appointment.
