In the Medical Academy students learn about the human body, both structurally and functionally, with emphasis on the pathophysiology and transmission of disease; gain in depth knowledge of the health care system and associated occupations; and perform skills representative of the major areas of allied health care in the laboratory and clinical settings as follows: Physical therapy, radiation, laboratory/respiratory medicine, and occupational therapy. occupation-specific skills, and knowledge of several aspects of Health Science career cluster. Work-Based learning opportunities (job shadowing and internships) with AdventHealth are integrated into the program.

The Medical Academy will help you decide if your interest in a medical field is one you want to pursue after graduation. You will be exposed to a variety of skills that could lead to careers ranging from direct patient care fields (doctor, nurse, PA, dental) to technical/support fields (lab tech, radiologic tech, pharmacy tech, medical assistant) and health related administrative roles (scientist, health care administration, medical insurance billing).
