Paul was born in the United Kingdom and his family traveled all over the world. He lived in Belgium and Italy but spent his high school years in the Daytona area.

Paul had played rugby, but never football before going out for the team at Creek. He says he loved every minute of it and lettered between 1983-1984 as a defensive lineman (#71).  Graduated from Spruce Creek in 1985.

After graduation, he returned to the UK and signed with the semi-pro London Ravens of the Budweiser League, an American football league in the UK.  He played for three years (1986-1989) as an outside linebacker (#49) gaining 6 or 7 starts and played in about 15 games.  The Ravens topped the league for all 3 years.  Although no longer in existence, the Bud League paved the way for the European League.

As of this writing, Paul is living in Swansea in South Wales.
