SPRUCE CREEK ORCHESTRA AND BANDS "OLD FASHIONED HOLIDAY CONCERT" - December 8 - Spruce Creek HS Auditorium. West Side Story
The 50th anniversary of the broadway musical West Side Story on film is being celebrated at Spruce Creek High School with the production of Leonard Bernstein and Stephan Sondheim"s musical WEST SIDE STORY. The re-working of Shakespeare's classic Romeo and Juliet set in modern day New York has received over 14 Tony nominations, 1 Grammy Award 10 Academy Awards and has played over 2,000 Broadway performances. The cast and broadway orchestra of over 60 students of the most talented actors, dancers and musicians will be performing their last three shows. Friday, December 9th at 7:30pm Saturday, Dec.10th at 7:30pm and Sunday, December 11th at 2:00pm. Ticket prices: Adults $12.00, Students $10.00 Seniors/ Children under 10 yrs $8.00. This is the largest production to grace the Spruce Creek Stage in the last 20 years. It will be a theatrical event not to be missed. HOLIDAY LUMINARY SALE TO SUPPORT MUSIC PROGRAM
The Spruce Creek High School Bands and Orchestra would like all of Port Orange to create a glowing unity of the season on Christmas Eve in order to "Light Up Port Orange" On Saturday, December 10th , the Spruce Creek High School Bands and Orchestra will be conducting their 19th Annual Luminaria Sale.  The students will be walking door to door in full uniform from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to solicit the community for their support.  Each luminaria kit contains 10 candles, 10 bags, sand, and instructions.  Donations are $6.00 per kit.  “Due to the budget cuts from the state, we are in a very tight situation with supporting our music students. “ states Andrew Kidd, Director of Music. All proceeds from this sale will be used to support the Spruce Creek High School music program to purchase new instruments, music, bus transportation, and replacement of uniforms.  Donations are tax deductible.
The band students assemble each kit by hand, just in time for the holiday rush.  It takes forty thousand candles, forty thousand luminary bags, four thousand bags of clean sand, and several days of hard work to assemble the kits.   "We turn our music facility into a giant Santa's Workshop.” "Hours of planning and hundreds of volunteers are used to reach every neighborhood in the city of Port Orange.  We want the entire city to light up their driveways on Christmas Eve to show our city wide unity in this holiday season." Says Andrew Kidd.
Light up Port Orange and support your local school music program in their efforts to raise money for their instrumental music program.  The musicians will be knocking on your doors on December 10th .  The luminaries line the driveways and sidewalks and are lit on Christmas Eve.  The rain date is Christmas Night!
