Get Caught Reading Program

This a reading program designed to acknowledge those students "caught" in the act of simply reading for pleasure. Teachers are asked to be on the look out for any students curled up with a good book any where in the school. The name of the student and the book is forwarded to the Reading Coach, who then provides the student with a certificate and incentive honoring them for the act of reading. Their names are displayed on a large bulletin board in the front of the school.

Another part of the program involves teachers displaying cards outside of their classrooms advertising the latest books they happen to be reading themselves and inviting the students to ask them about the book. This is designed to promote further discussion about books and help students make the connection that beyond teaching, teachers often engage in the process of reading for pleasure as well!

The program helps to make reading an important part of everyone's day.
