  • A work -study program offered to juniors and seniors
  • Students earn 2 - 4 elective credits through DCT: 1 class period and up to 3 OJT (On The Job) credits

DCT Application Process

  1. Complete an application form
  2. Return completed application to Mrs. Bailey (Room B-33)
  3. Be at least 16 years old
  4. Have a Social Security Number
  5. Maintain at least a 2.0
  6. Have good attendance and conduct records
  7. Have parental approval
  8. Work a minimum of 1.5 hours per OJT Credit
  9. Keep accurate records
  10. Employing business must have business license and workman's compensation.
  11. Receive at least minimum wages

Can students use their current job for their DCT training site?

Yes, often students are able to take on more responsible jobs when employers know the student is serious about his work.

Do students have to be employed in order to be accepted into the DCT program?

No, students have 2 weeks after the beginning of the school year to secure a training site.

Do students have to go straight to work when they leave campus?

No, some DCT student have jobs that start later in the day. They can use their afternoons to get homework done. 

What kind of jobs are acceptable for DCT?

DCT jobs are "diverse": lawn maintenance, child care, manufacturing, health care, retail, construction, restaurants, and office jobs are some of the types of jobs held by DCT students.

Do DCT students go to college after high school?

Yes, many start at the community college or technical school.
