As principal of Spruce Creek High School, Tim Egnor is the instructional leader of a comprehensive high school
with more than 2700 students. His highest priority is to maintain academic focus and create an outstanding learning
environment. Mr. Egnor manages the overall school operations and leads the administrative staff.
Mr. Egnor earned both his graduate and master’s degrees from Stetson University. He is certified
in social studies, supervision and earned a master’s degree in teaching history. Mr. Egnor holds a principal’s
certification and has taught individual courses at several local colleges. For five years, Mr. Egnor worked at the
district level; first as the K-12 Social Studies Specialist and later as the Coordinator of High School Services.
He has held several positions related to the International Baccalaureate Organization, chief among them being a member
of the Board of Directors for North America. He currently serves as a Board Member of the Florida State Music Association.
Mr. Egnor moved to Florida from West Virginia in 1975, and is a graduate of New Smyrna Beach High School.
He is married to Becky Egnor and they have three children, Erin, Ian and Erica.

Karen Beattie
Asst. Principal
Dr. Karen Beattie comes to Spruce Creek High School for the 2009-2010 school year after serving as an assistant principal at Silver Sands Middle and Pathways Elementary. Prior to being an assistant principal, Dr. Beattie was the project curriculum director for the Advanced Technology Center and the social studies specialist in the district office. Her experience in high school began as a teacher at Mainland in 1981. In addition to her experiences with Volusia County Schools, Dr. Beattie received an M.B.A. from Stetson University and worked as a consultant for local businesses and national non-profit organizations. Her responsibilities at Spruce Creek are primarily the areas of curriculum, instruction and accountability. Dr. Beattie works closely with data processing, guidance, department chairpersons, leadership team, and the School Advisory Council to ensure that the students at Spruce Creek receive the very best of educational opportunities. She is married to Bruce Beattie, editorial cartoonist at The Daytona Beach News-Journal.
Joe Piggotte
Asst. Principal
Joe Piggotte coordinates student discipline for the Dean's Office and manages substitute teachers. He ensures that classrooms are filled when teachers are absent. In addition, he supervises campus and after-school activities.
Mr. Piggotte began teaching at Spruce Creek High School in 1979; he also coached basketball. He went on to teach math and physical education at Seabreeze High School until 1990. He has served as an assistant principal from 1991 to the present at Deltona, New Smyrna Beach, and Seabreeze High Schools. Spruce Creek has been his home since 2003. Mr. Piggotte graduated from Stetson University with a B.S. Degree, and he holds an M.S. Degree from Nova University in administration and supervision.

Eric Polite
Asst. Principal
Mr. Polite is responsible for student discipline in the Dean's Office, and is also the contact person for bus/transportation issues.
Mr. Polite began his career in education in with the Volusia County School district in 1998 as a Math/Science teacher at Riverview Learning Center. He joined the Spruce Creek High faculty and coaching staff in 2002 as an in-school suspension teacher and basketball coach.
Mr. Polite is a 1995 graduate of the University of Mobile, where he earned his B.S. Degree in Sociology. He earned his Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University.
His wife is a Guidance Counselor for Volusia County Schools and they reside locally with their two children Aleah and Eric Jr.

Rose Roland
Asst. Principal
Mrs. Roland is a 1977 graduate of Spruce Creek High School. This will be her first year as a faculty member at Spruce Creek High School. She earned her B.S. degree in Business Education from Bethune-Cookman College and her Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. Mrs. Roland began her career in education in 1988 at Mainland High School, teaching English, Business Math and Shorthand. After teaching for a period of three years at Mainland High School she became a Teacher-On-Assignment while earning her master's degree. She has also served as an assistant principal at Holly Hill Middle and Taylor Middle-High Schools.
Mrs. Roland is married to Thomas Roland and has two sons Trenell and Travis.
Mrs. Roland manages the SCHS Exceptional Student Education program, handles student discipline, and provides campus and activity supervision.

Joy Swebilius
Asst. Principal
Mrs. Joy Swebilius serves as the Assistant Principal for Data Processing, a role which includes building the master schedule and facilitating the placement of teachers and students in classes. Part of her role includes handling grades and student data. Mrs. Swebilius is also responsible for school improvement planning and school-community public relations. She serves on the SCHS School Advisory Council. Prior to becoming an administrator, Mrs. Swebilius taught at Spruce Creek High School for 10 years.
Mrs. Swebilius has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Central Florida, a Master of Public Administration from the University of Central Florida, and a Specialist degree in Educational Leadership at the Nova Southeastern University. She is a currently pursuing her doctorate degree.
Mrs. Swebilius is married to David Swebilius and they have two sons, David Swebilius II, a science teacher at Hinson Middle School, and Austin Swebilius, a college freshman at the Culinary Institute of America in New York.
