Congratulations to the following JROTC Cadets for being Awarded Full 4-Year Army ROTC Scholarships - Jacob Mealick to University of South Florida; David Bailey University of Florida; Ethan Ernst to Florida State University and Garrett Loughry to the Merchant Maritime Academy.
The Academic Team continued its winning ways with excellent team performances in victories over Seabreeze, Pine Ridge, and Atlantic. The season record now stands at 8-0-1.
Congratulations to several Hawks for notable performances in the first-ever History Bee and Bowl.
Our team of Mason Norris and Jake Cameron won the JV competition. At the varsity level, Cory Breaux was a finalist in the bee and with teammates Sameer, AJ, and Ross earned a runner-up finish in the bowl.
The National Honor Society proudly announces its new board for 2012-2013. Congratulations to Johnny Strahl, Justin Meadows, Bobby McCabe, and Nick Monico. All four students have signed their letters of intent to play college football.
The girls weightlifting team won the Five Star Conference championship. The girls are coached by Tom Bennett and Mike Randow. The team won by having six individual class champions Jade McCrary, Celine Oskandy, Natalie Janssen, Abigail Hanley, Shelby Koren and Ashley Koren.
Congratulations to Jim Bowen, Glenn Eichmann and Mack Thomas who received Silver Awards at the FCCLA District 4 Culinary Arts competition.
Congratulations to the following artists who were selected through the votes of gallery guests in the “Art Under the Arches” – Pop Up art show that was held at McDonald’s on Taylor Road.
Tthe winners include: in Computer Graphics - 2nd Place Rajan Patel “Dazzling Blue”, and 1st Place Tori Ehrhardt, “Lemons”. in Photography - 2nd Place Hannah Ulloa “Scream”, 1st Place Erik Hansen “Swift.” for Drawing and Painting - 2nd Place Allyson Johnson, “Kelly”, 1st Place – Shannon Ribbink “Over the Bridge.” And overwhelmingly voted Best In Show - Tiffany Hatten “Isolation.”
The Daytona Beach News Journal recognized our student-athletes for awards in a variety of categories. Nearly 40 of our students were placed in the all-area first team for their sport. Three earned the title of Player of the Year:

Congratulations to the Lady Hawks Varsity Soccer Team for their 4-0 shutout over Jacksonville Mandarin. The Lady Hawks are now in the regional semi-finals for the second year in a row! Congratulations to the entire squad for an outstanding effort.
Congratulations to the JV Cheerleaders for taking 1st place in their division, and becoming grand champions at the USCA cheerleading competition in Coral Springs, Florida! now they are on to state!
Congratulations to our Mathletes who competed in the Mu Alpha Theta regional competition in Oviedo last Saturday. Individuals placing in Calculus were Aashish Lalani, Michael Mankbadi, and Emmet Harrington. In Precalculus, Oisin Harrington and in Geometry, Samuel Swanson.
Our Calculus team of Aashish Lalani, Michael Mankbadi, Emmet Harrington and Eric Rose took 2nd place. Other teams placing were: Precalculus including Oisin Harrington, Rania Saboungi, Sarah Bazargan, and Priya Sathyanarayan, and Geometry including Jordan Truong, Edward Zamborski, Kristi Kim and Vincent Imbimbo. Congratulations on a great performance by all which rewarded us with a sweepstakes trophy.
Congratulations to Bailey Palmer, who was honored as the Rotary Scholar/Athlete of the month for January. Bailey was awarded a plaque and a $500.00 college scholarship.
The Model UN club has done it again! Spruce Creek was chosen as Outstanding Delegation at the Pine Ridge conference this past Saturday. This was a result of all fourteen of our participants adding to the debate on the Iranian crisis. Brian Vaughn was chosen as Outstanding Delegate, and Bailey McCormick was chosen as Distinguished Delegate. Our 14 participants also earned us the Largest Delegation.
Congratulations to the JV and Varsity Lady Hawks basketball teams for their victories against Deltona High School. Great effort was given by all on both teams. Jenna Hawkins hit six 3-pointers on her way to breaking a new school record!
Congratulations to Spruce Creek Senior Lisa Burt who won the Ozone Invitational (Gymnastics) in Knoxville, TN. By winning this pre-selected meet, Lisa has earned the right to compete in the 2012 Nastia Liukin Supergirl Cup which will be held in Madison Square Garden in March. Lisa will be one of 36 competitors at this event.
The Academic Team remained unbeaten although it is now tied. Sameer, Sarah, Gary, Teddy, Oisin, and David led a squad of a dozen to wins over Atlantic and Seabreeze and that rare tie against New Smyrna Beach.

Congratulations to the JV & Varsity Lady Hawks Basketball Team for defeating district rival Lyman High School. The JV team was led by sophomore Amanda Boals who sank in 9 points. The varsity squad was led by Ta’koya Robinson, Jenna Hawkins, and Jasmine Jarrell whot together scored 38 points.
Congratulations to the Boys Varsity Basketball team on beating Lyman HS 51-49. Our JV hawks also beat Lyman 59-49.
Congratulations to Jordan Pride and Dymond Anthony who have been selected as the 2012 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. scholarship winners! They are being honored at a special black history month banquet!
Congratulations to the following students who have been chosen to be a part of the 2012 All State Honor Choruses: Katrina Wojcik (Reading Chorus); Jessica Martin (Mixed Chorus); Michelle He (Mixed Chorus); and Brittany Dufoe (Women’s Chorus).
The American Legion Post in Port Orange has selected five boys and two alternates to attend Boys State in Tallahassee July 8-14 where they will learn about our state government first hand. Congratulations to: Eloi LeRoux, Ryan Intriago, Ryan Fuller, Bradley Justis, Shawn McPadden, and the two alternates Robert Tyler Koehler and Naser Mubarak!
Congratulations to the JV Lady Hawks Basketball team for their impressive win against The Sanford Seminoles with a score 53-12! A great effort was given by all players.
Congratulations to Coach Paula Janan and the Jv Lady Hawks basketball team for taking 1st place in the Flagler Jv Tournament over the Christmas break. Also, congratulations go to junior Jenna Hawkins for receiving the all team player award during the break at the Augusta Girls Basketball Tournament.
Our Academic Team opened its season with three wins in a total team effort! All twelve players contributed in each of three matches, capped by a final tiebreaking question against Mainland.
Congratulations to our Varsity Cheerleaders who competed at the Regional Championships this past Saturday at FPC. They finished in the top 3 of a very competitive division and will move on to the State Cheerleading Championships in February.
